Davis Langdon was employed as the cost manager for the design team in the relocation of 1st Aviation Regiment.
The project included the provision for hangers, warehouses, maintenance workshops, flightline, command, training and domestic accommodation facilities for the relocation of up to 400 Defence personnel, in readiness for the acquisition of ‘17’ new ‘Tiger’ Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters (ARH).
Davis Langdon added value to the project through its involvement with other major Defence projects providing relevant knowledge and expertise. We provided cost advice in respect to savings obtained by reducing the height of hangers and use of tilt up pre-cast wall construction. Cost savings associated with this advice were adopted and the design changed to suit.
