The clients for this project were the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria and National Australia Bank.
The project is a significant mixed use development on Bourke Street in the heart of Melbourne. The building incorporates a number of different functions for the Club from Lower Ground up to the second floor including: a health and fitness centre, bars and dining areas and meeting and banquetting facilities.
Between levels three and six the RACV Club also operates 100 rooms of hotel style accommodation for its members and guests which have been fitted out to a high standard and are comparable with Melbourne’s 5-star hotels. In total the club offers world-class accommodation totalling approximately 25,000 m2.
Levels seven to fifteen provide Grade A office accommodation with 1,500m² floor plates and the law firm Deacons are the anchor tenant.
The roof level provides a sky room for banquetting and cocktail events and offers great views of the Melbourne CBD.
Davis Langdon provided feasibility services in the project inception phase to assist the RACV Club in finalising their business plan.
Through the design phases Davis Langdon provided cost planning services and in doing so helped the client and design team realise the design potential with the available budget.
As the project was procured on a two stage design and construct basis, Davis Langdon was retained by the client and the funding organisation (National Australia Bank) to monitor not only the financial aspects of the project during construction but also the programme implications of the builder’s progress.
