Davis Langdon

Art Appreciation

September, 2008

Last week our Liverpool office played host to the work of six local artists who the firm has been supporting over the last 18 months as part of the Davis Langdon Art Project.

We are working on a number of major projects such as ECF's Central Business District scheme; Paradise Project delivering Liverpool 1; the Liverpool Cruise Liner Facility and the new Liverpool Football Club stadium at Stanley Park Square invited over 50 guests to the firm’s Cunard Building offices on Tuesday 14th October. There, they were given the unique opportunity to view – and to buy – over 80 pieces of artwork from local artists.

We have been working with Peter Worthington and Alison Carling, curators of The South Bohemia Art Gallery – who work closely with Liverpool Centre for Arts Development in order to promote art within Liverpool -  to set up the project, the aim being to give support to local artists, who often struggle to find gallery space in Liverpool.

Partner Andrew Stevenson commented:

“Obviously we are privileged to have offices in such a stunning building as the Cunard, and to be able to support local talent and give them the chance to display their work here has been extremely rewarding, particularly during Capital of Culture 2008.”

“For us, the move to a new bright, open plan office space last year was an important step, and when we saw the potential in terms of ceiling height and natural light, we knew we had to do something a bit special.”

The project has featured the work of different artists on a quarterly basis and all pieces featured are available to purchase, in print.

The featured artists include Alison Carling; award winning artist Ken Hayes, Raela K, John O’Neill, Rachel Jones and Eddie Lyons.
