Services Engaged Cost Management, Employer's Agent

The Redbridge Treatment Centre forms part of the Wave One projects on the Government’s Patient Choice Initiative Scheme. PHG successfully bid and won the contract to provide a serviced hospital extension over a five year fixed term.

The proposed site for the new treatment centre is an area adjacent to the existing King George’s Hospital in Redbridge.

Davis Langdon was appointed as cost consultants and employer’s agent on the Treatment Centre project. The project was procured in the form of design and construction of a new treatment centre operated privately for the NHS as part of the Governments Patient Choice initiative.

The accommodation within the Treatment Centre was to provide six theatres, 22 in-patient bed spaces and 5 consulting rooms. The treatment centre specialises in Day Surgery and the unit has facilities for endoscopy.  The construction costs on this project are approximately £7.7million and the practical completion date is November 2006.

The first patients are expected by 28th December 2006 following a period of commissioning and testing.

This project has stretched all parties concerned regarding the delivery of a solution that matched the budget available and working to tight time frames in terms of the programme on site.

The project gives the NHS a new facility in terms of being able to meet its targets and commitments, all of which have been achieved without compromising the quality and standards required.  This project also achieved Financial Close in the fastest time of any of the Wave One Treatment centres.
